The Kano police command has issued a warning against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) planned rally.
The state Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Gumel, stated this to journalists on Friday in Kano.
Mr Gumel stated that the command has begun intensive patrols both inside and outside the city to ensure the maintenance of law and order.
He stated that armed security personnel had been dispatched to crucial areas in the state to deal with any type of security threat.
”As far as this command is concerned we have not permitted the two major political parties to engage in any form of protest in our areas of supervision, ”he said.
He urged residents to go about their legal business without fear of being molested.
He stated that the police and sister security organisations were working together to ensure adequate security for the state's lives and property.
He also urged the leaders of the two parties to follow through on peace agreements they signed.
He urged parents to keep a tight eye on their children's movements since anyone discovered breaking the peace would be detained and prosecuted.
