The organisers of the upcoming Badagry International Film Festival, has said the event will serve as a platform for networking, exploration, and meeting professionals in the industry.
Mr Viyon Awhanse, the founder and CEO of the Badagry International Film Festival, stated this in a Sunday interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
According to him, the event, which will take place from November 15 to November 18, will showcase the creative brilliance of the youth by providing them with a platform to display their visionary ideas through films, arts, and sports.
This is a one-of-a-kind platform for filmmakers to expose their work to a global audience.
"The event will bring to the fore, the creative talent of the youth and provide them with an opportunity to showcase their thoughts, empathy and breadth of vision through films, arts and sports," he added.
The CEO, on the other hand, asked filmmakers, creative authors, visitors, cultural and cinema aficionados to attend the festival's launch edition.
According to Awhanse, the extraordinary event will include a variety of intriguing attractions.
"This includes free film screenings, workshops, a tour of Badagry, live music performances, cocktails, and a gala night. There will be panel discussions, masterclasses, a funfair and bonfire, activities along the coast line and award presentations," he said.
He stated that the festival was backed by the Lagos State Government's Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, as well as Mr Bonu Solomon, Chairman of the Lagos House of Assembly Committee on Tourism, Arts, and Culture.
"My gratitude goes to Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his support and encouragement in this project. The festival has also been blessed by two Badagry commissioners, Mr Ibrahim Layode, Commissioner for Housing and Home Affairs, and Mr Mobolaji Ogunlende, Commissioner for Youths and Sports.
"The lawmaker representing Badagry Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Prince Sesi Whingan and the two chairmen, Mr Olusegun Onilude and Joseph Gbenu of Badagry Local Government and and Badagry-West Badagry-West LCDA are all working tirelessly in making Badagry become home for all," he told reporters.
He stated that the festival is directed by legendary Nollywood actor Segun Arinze, and that Mr Gabriel Afolayan, an actor and musician, is one of the event ambassadors.
"Segun Arinze and the state Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture. from the Commissioner, the Special Adviser and Permanent Secretary are putting all in top gear to ensure success of the festival." he said.
Awhanse urged filmmakers, sports and fashion lovers to attend the festival and learn a lot about Badagry.
"This national film festival will allow you to ask questions and explore." "Please come and participate," he added.
