A six-year-old child with hearing loss has allegedly been defiled at the Nigerian Army Officers' Wives Association (NAOWA) nursery and primary school in Badagry, Lagos.
The girl, who is also deaf, was allegedly violated during a graduation ceremony on Wednesday, July 19 2023.
Her family claims that the school administration is attempting to cover up the incident.
The victim's father, Mark Akande, expressed regret for the tragedy.
"I'm in a lot of pain." "On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, my six-year-old daughter was defiled at NAOWA Nursery and Primary School, 243, Becce Battalion, Nigerian Army Barracks, Ibereko, Badagry, Lagos State," he stated.
He also mentioned that his wife, who is a teacher at the school, tutors a different class from that of their child's.
"To our greatest surprise, the doctor in the military hospital tried to cover up even though the nurses had already checked her and told us that our daughter was violated," he stated.
He added that when he obtained a medical report, the narrative changed.
He said in an interview with The Cable, that they were able to proceed to Badagry General Hospital and undergo another test.
"On July 19, 2023, at about 7.30 p.m., my wife began bathing our two children." "When it was my daughter's turn, she began to scream when her mother attempted to wash her private parts," he explained.
"I ask her to bring the child so I could talk with her. When she came in, she demonstrated how she had been taken away.
"She also described how her private parts were penetrated." So, we decided to take her to the hospital. The military hospital inside the barracks where we live is the closest hospital.
"When we got to the military hospital around 8 p.m., we met the nurses and other medical staff." However, the doctor was not present.
"They checked her out and told us she had a defilement." Then we asked for the medical report. But we were told to return the next day, July 2023, by 8 a.m. to see the doctor.
