Police arraign artisans in court for stealing provisions

Two artisans were docked before a chief magistrates' court in Okitipupa, Ondo State, on Friday for allegedly stealing N300,000 worth  of provisions.


Bayo Omowole, a mechanic, and Tosin Owoetan, a tailor, were accused with burglary and theft.


The police prosecutor, ASP Zedekiah Orogbemi, informed the court that the defendants broke into Comfort Joseph's beverage store on Halubu Street in Okitipupa at 3:00 a.m. on May 27 and took N300,000 in provisions.


According to the prosecutor, the crime is punishable by sections 516 and 390 (9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.


The defendants, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty to the accusation.


Chief Magistrate Chris Ojuola granted each defendant N100,000 bail and a surety.


Mr. Ojuola adjourned the case for September 15 for another hearing.
