Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has challenged the presidential elections petition court decision delivered on February 25, 2023.

Mr Obi stated during a news conference on Thursday at his Onitsha house that while the PEPC followed the statutory time limitations, he disagreed with the judgment's rationale and conclusion.

"I express respect for the court's views and rulings, but I openly disagree with the judgment's rationale and final conclusions," he stated.

Mr Obi stated his determination to immediately challenge this judgement through the appellate process in his capacities as a presidential candidate and on behalf of the Labour Party.

The former two-term governor stated that the PEPC is not the last authority and that duty now rests with the Supreme Court, in which he has faith.

Mr Obi urged Nigerians to remain focused, steadfast, and committed to peaceful procedures, highlighting the necessity of upholding the rule of law.

He stated that the matter has yet to be resolved logically.

Mr Obi disclosed that his legal team had already been given strong directives to submit an appeal against the PEPC's ruling.

He vowed unflinching commitment in his pursuit of justice for himself and the millions of supporters across the country whose election mandate he claimed was unjustly obstructed by the Independent National election Commission (INEC).

Mr Obi emphasised the importance of strong national institutions and public trust in them for a healthy democracy.

He stated that if INEC performed its statutory obligations transparently and fairly, electoral litigation would be greatly reduced.

Mr Obi thanked every Nigerian who had contributed to their cause and the campaign for a New Nigeria.

He thanked his legal team, the Labour Party, the Obidient family, and everyone who came to court every day.
