The death of Nigerian rapper Mohbad, who died on Tuesday at the age of 27, aroused considerable public concern.
Despite contradictory evidence surrounding their relationship, Sam Larry, Naira Marley's counterpart, has claimed that he loves Mohbad, despite recordings appearing on the internet raising concerns about his role in the late artiste's condition.
Sam Larry has erased all posts from his Instagram account in reaction to these purported charges.
He stated in a Yoruba-language video, "Throughout the time he was with Malian Records, he knows I have a deep affection for him, and both his wife and others are aware of my love for him."
He also underlined that disputes should not be used to cause hurt or conflict among colleagues. Sam Larry also addressed the viral footage in which he and several of his buddies assaulted Mohbad.
He stated, “Zlatan, I am a witness; please ask Zlatan if I ever had any physical contact with Mohbad. In the club video you mentioned, if you carefully watch it, you’ll notice that the bouncers were urging Mohbad not to get involved in the situation that Sam Larry and others were trying to resolve. They were saying, ‘Don’t interfere; it’s not your concern.”
The death of the late Afrobeats rapper has prompted outrage among fellow musicians, celebrities, and the general public about the maltreatment of young artists within their various record firms.
In reaction, the Lagos police command has announced that the late artiste's remains will most likely be autopsied.
