Hon. Prince Sesi Oluwaseun Whingan, Member of the House of Representatives at the National Assembly representing Badagry Federal Constituency, synergies with Lagos State University (LASU) and Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) to improve job and admission opportunities for the indigenous people of Badagry Federal Constituency.

The young lawmaker, on a courtesy visit to the two universities in the State on Monday, to familiarize himself with the universities' authorities to synergize towards improving job and admission opportunities for the indigenous people of Badagry Federal Constituency, as well as exploring ways to help the varsities develop further.

This was disclosed in a signed press release made available to News Peddlers by the Lawmakers media aid Peter Dansu. Sesi was joined by Hon. Abdulwasiu Kayode Bawa-Allah, the Federal Character Commissioner representing Lagos State at the commission in Abuja, who was also in LASU for a visitation.

Speaking during his visit to LASU, the Lawmaker stated that the visit was motivated by his desire to become acquainted with the university as a lawmaker in one of the university's most important catchment areas, the Badagry Federal Constituency: to see how he could collaborate with the university and explore areas of mutual interest, particularly job opportunities and student admission for Badagry residents, as well as how he could be of assistance to the university as a federal lawmaker.

"I am here on this courtesy visit to see how we can develop a mutual relationship that will maximize the creation of job opportunities and student admission for the people of Badagry and, by extension, indigenes of Lagos State." I appreciate the positive response from you and the management team. "I am using this medium to reiterate my commitment to prioritizing education and job creation as I speak in the National Assembly for the good people of Badagry Federal Constituency," he said.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Adenike Boyo, who represented the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, According to available data, she stated that the Badagry Federal Constituency is the most benefited in terms of non-academic job opportunities at LASU.

She claimed that because the varsity is state-owned, it has always taken into account the indigenous interests of all Lagosians from Ikeja, Badagry, Ikorodu, and Lagos Island Epe. She promised that the university would continue to prioritize the state while respecting the rights of other non-indigenous students. The VC also expressed satisfaction, claiming that Badagry is being represented in the new administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by a very young, brilliant, smart, and responsive national assembly member. She concluded by saying she hopes to see a landmark project named after Badagry at LASU.

The DVC (Academic), Prof. Olufunsho Omobitan, and the Registrar, Mr Emmanuel A. Fanu, both confirmed the VC's claims. Saying that Hon. Sesi Whingan's courtesy visit to LASU was unprecedented and that no member of the House of Representatives had ever gone so far as to visit the university to foster a mutual relationship. Mr Fanu, the Registrar, added that he was proud of him for being a Badagrian. He claimed that the MHR is off to a good start, and he was certain that his election to represent Badagry in the national assembly was the right decision.

Sesi stated that, his presence in the National Assembly was to represent the interests of Badagry and Lagos State. He promised to do everything he could to help the university get its dues and attention from the federal government. He, like Oliver Twist, asks the authority for more job consideration and student admission. He was impressed with the percentage of non-academic job opportunities given to Badagry by LASU, and he believes that the same could be extended to academics as well, as there are brilliant and qualified people in Badagry who could be considered for academic jobs.

It was the same at Lagos State University of Education (LASUED, Oto-Ijanikin). Prof. Biliki Lafiaji-Okunneye, Vice Chancellor of the University, welcomed the MHR, Hon. Sesi Whingan, and his entourage into the university's management meeting. In her welcome address, she praised Prince Sesi Oluwaseun's competent representation at the National Assembly and the qualities of a good leader. She stated that she has been a long-time supporter of the MHR and the socioeconomic development projects he has undertaken in the Badagry corridor.

Prof. Lafiaji lamented some glitches in the previous election and expressed her determination to do her best, as a native of Lagos State herself, to ensure indigenes of the state get what they deserve, particularly in terms of student admission and job opportunities at the university. She expressed hope that Prince Sesi will elevate Badagry to a position of pride among other federal constituencies in the nation.

The VC LASUED urged the lawmaker to always intervene on behalf of the university when necessary, particularly when the Federal Government is involved. She specifically mentioned the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) as an area in which the university may require the assistance of a National Assembly lawmaker. She went on to say that such an intervention for the varsity would have a huge impact on the school's development.

In response, the MHR thanked Prof. Lafiaji for welcoming him and his team to the University and for her innovative ideas in leading the institution to greatness. Prince Sesi promised to do his best in the National Assembly and through other relevant government agencies to ensure LASUED receives what is due to them, adding that he would be ready to support the university at any time. He urged the institution's authority to continue giving priority consideration to the people of Badagry Federal Constituency in terms of student admission and job opportunities.

"I am grateful for your help throughout the process, as well as the warm reception you gave me and my team at the institution's management meeting. It's a rare distinction. Ma, I admire your leadership skills as the university's first VC. As a lawmaker representing Badagry, I will do everything in my power in the National Assembly and through other relevant government agencies to ensure LASUED receives what they are due. I promise to make myself available whenever this great citadel needs me," he said.
