President-elect Bola Tinubu directed police to thoroughly investigate everything that happened during the Adamawa governorship supplemental election.
he made the claim in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, while congratulating the winners of the Saturday's supplementary governorship elections in Kebbi and Adamawa.
In states where the election took place, Mr. Tinubu also celebrated with those who were elected to the Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly in the most recent round of voting.
He added that the winners should recommit themselves to serving their individual constituencies because they had won the people's trust.
He claimed that the supplementary polls had finally and appropriately concluded the 2023 elections.
“I observed, with satisfaction, the largely peaceful atmosphere that pervaded the supplementary election on Saturday.
“The election is a further testimony that citizens have accepted democratic norms and have unalloyed faith in the electoral process.
“However, I note the Adamawa Supplementary Governorship Election matter, and I urge police authorities to thoroughly investigate all that transpired in the election, given the attendant controversy.
“In every democratic contest, there has to be one winner. I call on those aggrieved to pursue legitimate means of addressing their grievances,” Mr Tinubu advised.
He encouraged those who had won to get ready to serve the electorate assiduously and devotedly, and to work alongside him as president-elect to advance the nation.
In order to achieve the objective of a better, stronger, more secure, economically vibrant, and successful Nigeria, he said this was essential.
The alleged announcement of Aisha Binani of the APC as the victor of the supplemental election by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner on Saturday was followed by controversy.
The panel then ruled that the proclamation was invalid.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri was named the election's victor by INEC on Monday. He received 430,861 votes, defeating Binani, who received 398,788.
