In his words of gratitude, “I appreciate (RAK ) foundation for his interest to build lives of young people and supporting them in achieving their dreams. He must be a good man looking at the situation of the country currently.”
Mr.Wande Desmond, Education director of RAK Foundation who spoke with News Peddlers
said, “Just as we have been doing yearly. We give free Joint Admission
Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to youths in Badagry. We are doing the same
this year but in a different dimension."
Desmond further disclosed that "RAK foundation had earlier given out JAMB practice software to youths who showed interest, for practice and preparation for qualification exams which gives them the opportunity to get the free JAMB form."
Those that got the
form are those that have gone through the mock exams and passed it.
“We have been doing this for the past four years now and we don't just want to give JAMB form as everyone does, we also intend to give them proper coaching so that they can pass the JAMB. We went as far as paying the school fees of the students who are exceptional whose parents could not afford to pay their school fees, " he said
"This year we have
paid school fees of about 30 students, in January last year we did the same
thing and this year won't be an exception.
"Currently, we have
about 70 students in tertiary institutions around the nation who have benefited from the scheme,
"Badagry has several
brilliant indigent students, who wish to go to school but their parents can't
afford to sponsor them. Hon. Ogunlende now felt there is a need to make a
provision for such people. That was why he created the platform to provide JAMB forms for them and to take care of them, after getting admitted into tertiary
institutions.
“This is strictly on merit; see this is education. We don't play politics with people's life. Mr. Ogunlende will always say he wants anything he does to be strictly on merit, without considering any personal interest," he added.
