Bola Tinubu |
Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, has urged South-east residents to vote for him because he is their only path to "national cake."
On Wednesday, Mr Tinubu spoke at a campaign rally in Enugu.
"You can only harvest when you invest. "You will only get a piece of the national cake if you vote for me," he explained.
'I intend to establish a South-East industrial and manufacturing hub.'
If elected president in 2023, the APC candidate also promised to establish industrial and manufacturing hubs in Nigeria's south-east.
He stated that this would be part of his plan to develop the South-east and create thousands of jobs for the region's youth and residents.
"If you elect me as your president, we will collaborate. We will establish industrial hubs in the states of Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Abia, and Anambra.
"We will make Enugu, Imo, Ebonyi, Abia and Anambra States and the entire South-east a regional business hub, the manufacturing centre of Nigeria," Tinubu said.
The APC candidate also stated that the South-east is endowed with "incredible resources and agricultural power" that can propel the region's economic recovery.
He stated that he would develop mineral resources such as coal to help the region's recovery.
"Successful businesses can be created by assembling plants. You only need to collaborate with the federal government.
"Don't expect the white man to do this for us. We're smart enough, we're great thinkers, we can fabricate, develop, and mould; we can build engines and turn our coal into industry.
"Let us use what we have to help our country grow. Let's turn our coal into cash. Let's convert our gas into cash. We can set up agro-processing centers. We must feed over 200 million people. "We will not starve to death," he added.
