SSS invades CBN, occupies Emefiele's office

BY: News Peddlers

The State Security Service, SSS, has invaded the headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and taken over the office of the apex bank's embattled governor, Godwin Emefiele.

According to the DAILY NIGERIAN, there has been a running battle between the SSS and Mr Emefiele over alleged terrorism financing.

The secret service had previously sought a court order to arrest Mr Emefiele, but he has been out of the country on his annual leave, which ends tomorrow, January 17.

However, in December, the FCT High Court barred the SSS from arresting, inviting, or detaining Mr Emefiele.

The SSS operatives arrived at the CBN headquarters Monday afternoon with about 20 vehicles and armed personnel.

The operatives also barred all bank employees from entering Mr Emefiele's office.

The SSS spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, has yet to respond to this reporter's inquiry.
