Henry Ndukuba, primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, has expressed hope that the country will overcome its challenges and become stronger among nations.

In his Christmas message to the congregation at the Cathedral Church of Advent, Life Camp, Abuja, Mr Ndukuba said the birth of Jesus Christ brought hope to mankind.

He urged Nigerians not to be afraid of the challenges ahead, but to look to God, who has promised to deliver the country from its current state and liberate its citizens.

The primate urged Nigerians to have faith in God and not be afraid because God's plan for Nigeria would be fulfilled soon.

"At such a time as this, just as it was on the first Christmas when Jesus was born, the message of the angel to the shepherds, who were like neglected people, oppressed, and unappreciated in society."

The primate urged Christians to walk uprightly in order for things to work in their favour.

"I believe in God that many people around the world are going through difficult times and experiencing things that make them feel worthless.

"However, the message this Christmas is to not be afraid. Don't let the things that are in front of you overwhelm you.

"There is a purpose for God in the life of every individual, every family, and indeed, for Nigeria, and that purpose shall surely come to pass.

"And if we will open ourselves to him, God's purpose will be fulfilled, and the things that God wants to do in and through us will be manifested," he said.
