APC Receives More Defectors in the Northern State

In Sokoto State, the All Progressive Congress, APC, said it had received more defectors from the People's Democratic Party, PDP, and other political parties in the state's eastern zone.

This is according to a statement issued to journalists on Friday by Bashar Abubakar, Special Assistant to Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto North), the state APC leader.

According to Mr Abubakar, the most recent defections involved hundreds of PDP, Labour Party, and New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) supporters from Gwadabawa, Illela, and Goronyo Local Government Areas who joined the APC.

"These defectors include former Councillors and various stakeholders from the eastern zone of the state.

"They were all received in their respective local governments by the party's governorship candidate, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu, and his running mate, Idris Gobir," he said.

Mr Abubakar added that the development had given the party more hope ahead of the state's general elections in 2023.
