BREAKING: I Inherit Cult Clash and Killings - Badagry Chairman

BY: News Peddlers

Hon. Onilude Segun Adeniran, Badagry Local Government chairman

Following the blackmail meted against Badagry Local Government Chairman Hon. Onilude Segun Adeniran by an anonymous Facebook account; Pendo Mautin Douglas, he shed light on the Badagry he met when coming to power.

In a speech posted on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, the chairman said his attention was drawn to series of malicious, inciteful and defamatory posts and comments written about him and his associates by an anonymous Facebook account; Pendo Mautin Douglas.

"I am a teacher by training and I understand the difference in the behaviour of our young people. I inherited a Badagry Local Government where cult clashes and killings were rampant. With the help of the then Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Edgal Imohimi; former D.P.O of Badagry Divisional Police Station, Barrister Samson; Chief Tunde Giro and other notable personalities and security agencies, we were able to curb the menace of cultism in Badagry. We are not unaware of the resurgence of cult-related clashes within and around Badagry Local Government. We have mapped out strategies to permanently solve cult-related problems in Badagry Local Government.
I normally do not pay attention to petty distractions like the glaring lies concocted by the faceless being behind the anonymous account." The speech stated.

Onilude asserts that he is not a saint but he tries to live above board; uprightly and selflessly in the service of God and mankind, especially the good people of Badagry Local Government.

It further reads "As an Administration, we have tried to bridge the infrastructural gap in our Local Government and by extension create indirect jobs for our people. We gave preference to contractors from Badagry and made it mandatory for our contractors to patronize local and indigenous vendors in Badagry. We believe it is a means of empowering our people."

The chairman said his administration has confidently set a new standard in Badagry Local Government in terms of governance and development.

"I, therefore, suspect the lies, cyberbullying, calumny and defamatory posts by the said Pendo Mautin Douglas on Facebook are politically motivated but it is heart-wrecking and damaging to the reputations of individuals and families of the persons his/her public incitement has affected negatively."

He said his administration, strongly welcomes criticism because he believes it enables alternative thinking and serves the purpose of self-assessment to enhance improvement from a second mirror.

Adding that no one should hide under criticism or free speech to recklessly defame or incite violence in our communities.

"Let the purveyor of the malicious, inciteful and defamatory contents be strongly advised to desist else he shall invite the wrath of the law."
