Gunmen assassinated the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 12, Audu Madaki, in Kaduna's Barde area on Wednesday, killing his orderly.
Mr Madaki and an unidentified officer survived the attack but were shot along the Barde-Jargindi village.
They were on their way to the monthly meeting of the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, and senior police officers with the rank of commissioners.
The security situation in the nation is the main item on the agenda because, according to the IGP, it is essential to paving the way for resolving these security concerns in the nation.
