Authorities in Somali have expressed concern as they discover
that some people are using ants as drugs to get high. Which the government has seriously
warned against.
They inhale the vapour after boiling the insect to get high,
the Police said.
The police department claimed that there’s a shortage of this
particular ant currently because people are now searching for it.
Meanwhile, doctors have warned people about the side effects
of coming in contact with the formic acid, which can cause dizziness, nausea and
vomiting. Stating clearly that it shouldn’t be inhaled for any reason.
The house ants are known to have an odour which is known to contain formic acid. Which can be intoxicating when inhaled.
The scientific name of the ant is tapinoma sessile.
