Agbovipe-Iragon road |
Iragon people are clamouring and pleading for the Lagos state
government to remember the abandoned Agbovipe-Iragon road project, linking the communities
to Ogun state and the main part of Badagry.
On a visit to the road, News Peddlers spoke with some road users. “The
suffering on this road is becoming unbearable, yesterday I witnessed a bad
incident on the road where a well-dressed man fell inside this water, with a
very expensive phone, I felt so bad.”
The situation of the road had affected several economic activities in the
area connecting about 10 communities, making it difficult for people from Erekiti,
Agbovipe, Iragon, Iragbo and Panko, to access Ikoga market which is the major market
sustaining the economy of the area.
It is recalled by News Peddlers that the road was under construction around
2013 to 2015 but was later abandoned due to an undisclosed reason.
Meanwhile, an unverified report was published during the period claiming
the road have been completed and commissioned.
Another commuter said “we appreciate the Lagos state government for the
Iragon-Thogli community high school. But the students in the school are suffering.”
Adding that the students are finding it difficult to access the school
which could affect their academic performance.
“Students who come to the school from outside Iragon have been coming late
since the rainy season commenced,” he added.
Economic activities of the communities along the road are now on standstill.
The people in the area are now pleading to the government at both local and State
levels to heed their cry.
If this road is constructed it will improve the economy of Badagry and
likewise Lagos state since it is a link road between Lagos to Ogun State.
