The Pioneer, Real Act of Kindness (RAK) Development Foundation and a House of Representatives aspirant, Badagry Federal Constituency, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende has said that Badagry is sitting on a goldmine noting that there are many potentials in the tourism sector yet to be tapped.
The Pioneer RAK Foundation stated this while commissioning a workshop built for a craftsman, Mr. Gbanga Oluwasegun, at Gberefu Island, popularly known as "Point of No Return", stressing that there is a reward for hard work and the man has worked hard to attract his kind gesture the day he visited the place.
Mr. Ogunlende in the same vein renovated the Mobee Slave Trade Relics Museum. He stated that it is important to make the first museum in Nigeria attractive to project a good image of Badagry to the world.
According to him, Badagry is a tourist haven where the story of the community is incomplete without Gberefu Island, hence the need to build the craftsman's workshop to give it a standard to paint a good impression to tourists visiting the community.
Ogunlende in a chat with newsman on why he keeps impacting people instead of going around looking for delegates during this electioneering period stated that RAK is all about quenching thirst, inspiring change and empowering generation. So, according to him, what he is doing is part of him and it will continue even after the election.
"We are sitting on a goldmine in Badagry. There are more potentials here that are yet to be tapped. When you see the first museum in Nigeria, the Mober Museum, it speaks volumes and it is important we give it a befitting outlook. It is also complementing this place as well as tourist centre. We will continue to do more to move Badagry forward.
"There is always a reward for hard work. When I came to this place, his passion and hard work attracted me to him. This is Gberefu Island, the Point of No Return, the first place people see when going to the Island. When we talk about moving Badagry forward and have not done anything to the first point of contact, then we are joking. That is why I put in my little resources to help renovate Mobee Relics, the first Museum in Nigeria.
"You cannot talk about Badagry without talking about the Point of No Return. When tourists visit the point of no return, this place is the first point of contact, it must be of a certain standard. It gives an impression and that is why I supported you. I promised you a machine for your work, we have ordered it and it will get to you today". Ogunlende said.
Responding, the craftsman, Mr. Gbenga Oluwasegun who according to him has been on the Island for the past Fifteen (15) years and his family, stated that they are highly elated for the kind gesture RAK has extended to him, adding that "a lot of people have been coming and promising without anything but the day I met RAK Foundation and he asked me to write a quotation, I did it and submitted to him. My mind kept telling me RAK will do something for me and here we are today commissioning the workshop. I am so much happy and I appreciate him greatly".
