Rotaract, the youth wing of Rotary club of Ajara, Badagry in conjunction with Dynamic youths organisation of Nigeria.
Had embarked on three days of outreach
to Ipokia local government, Ogun state. which ended Saturday.
The group of Rotaractors visited the local government
chairman’s office on Thursday. Where they discuss with the chairman, the probable
way Rotaracts can contribute to the communities.
Rotaractor Omitogun Hennuho Rasaq the change-maker president Rotaract club Ajara, Badagry, and the coordinator Ipokia community outreach project, told News Peddlers that “the three days programme which commenced on Thursday with a cutesy visit to the Local Government Chairman’s office.
"Where Rotr. Waheed Nurudeen the representative of Dynamic youths organization of Nigeria and youth leader hubs, presented a photo frame award to the chairman of the local government. And we also notified him on the activities of Rotaract in his local government area," He said.

said “I thanked the chairman for
granting us this opportunity to pay him a visit.
"I further shared our past engagements on the Community Outreach Project and how it has impacted development in the communities where we have worked. I assured him of quality and sustainable development after the project in ipokia community," he said.

On Friday the team visited community high school Ipokia, Where
they orientated the female students on the need to take good care of their body
most especially during their menstrual cycle. And menstrual pad was distributed
to the female students.
Rotaractor Rebecca Godonu, the vice president change maker, in
her address to the students said “as you all know, cleanliness is next to
Godliness make sure you take your bath always, wash your clothes regularly and make
sure you look presentable.”

“The hygiene we are talking about here is how to take care
of yourself from head to toes and most importantly during your menstrual cycle.
The best thing to use during your menstrual period is the pad, not cloths or tissue
paper which could have several health disadvantages,” Rebecca added.
Rotaract Roheemat Balogun, who guided the students on how to
use the menstrual pad, told the students to make sure they clean their private
parts as often as possible in other to prevent infections.
Speaking with News Peddlers, Mrs. Kikisu Esther a Yoruba
teacher in community high school Ipokia, “actually the importance of pad can
not be underestimated since we are in the civilised world and from the talk
given to the students today they were meant to know that pad is the best used during
their monthly circle, compared to clothes and tissue paper which was previously
used.”
“Hygiene is very important because it prevents all kinds of infections
and diseases, which enhance healthy living likewise impacting on their academic
performance. I appreciate the efforts of the Rotaract because after the health
talk they still went ahead to distribute menstrual pads.” She said.
A fully equipped first aid box was also presented to community high school Tube,
to take care of the students in case of an accident.

The outreach was concluded with a visit to the palace of HRM.
Oba Dr. Yisa Sola Adeniyi Olaniyan, Osingin II, Onipokia of Ipokia Kingdom. Where that king prayed for the Rotaract
team and presented a photo frame of the king to him in appreciation.
“In this part of the world it’s important we help ourselves,
voluntary activities are done by those God had ministered to. Because several
people are well to do but are not ready to help people. Oba Olaniyan said.
Adding that, “from my experience outside the country voluntary
activities are very common. My advice to people that can help in the community is
to have a change of mind, blessed are those who like to give. That’s the way to
help ourselves.
“Fortunately in this part of the world majority of us needs help
and the only way to achieve that is to help ourselves. We all know that the government
we run in this country is not that effective, I implore our people who are well
to do to please help those who are in need to alleviate poverty in the society.

The king encouraged the youths present, to get their Permanent
Voters Card PVC. That it’s important ahead of the coming 2023 election.
“The youths are the leaders to be, what you do today will determine
what’ll get tomorrow. We need to get more involved in what people are doing, and
get more involved in social works and development activities because it’s a way
to become the leaders of tomorrow.
“The youths shouldn’t be in a hurry to get rich because that’s
another problem we’re facing in society today. They don’t want to work and plan
their future and every other thing will follow.”
Rotaract Omitogun recalled that, Rotaract club of Ajara under
his tenure as the president has carried out several notable community development
activities.
“When I took over last year we carried out tree planting in
Badagry West, also Badagry outreach where exercise books were distributed to students
of Ajara grammar school. We likewise visited historical sites in Badagry including
the Akran of Badagry’s palace.
“We had also carried out conflict resolution projects where plastic
chairs were donated to Ajara police station in Badagry. We had likewise visited
motherless home in Oto Awori with the Rotaract club of Okokomiko where we gave the
exercise books and other things,” he said.
"Several organisations supported us to make this possible which includes, National youth council of Nigeria ipokia branch, Youth leader hubs, and Homifast enterprises." He added.
