Anatomy of Human Heart |
The heart is a muscular organ that pumps blood throughout the circulatory system. the human heart is located in between the lungs in the mediastinum. it's made up of four chamber which includes;
1) The Right Artrium
2) The left Atrium
3) The Right Ventricle
4) The left Ventricle
The human heart beat around hundred thousands times per day, pumping approximately 8 pint of blood throughout the body daily.
The two atria are thin walled chamber that receive blood from the vein. Also the two ventricle are thin walled chamber that forcefully pump blood out of the heart.
The human heart consist of three layers which are;
1)Outer pericardium
2) Middle myocardium
3)Inner endocardium
The main functions of the heart
* Pumping oxygenated blood to other body parts.
* Pumping hormones and other vital substances to different parts of the body.
* Receiving deoxygenated blood and carrying metabolic waste products from the body and pumping it to the lungs for oxygenation.
* Maintaining blood pressure.
Common heart disease
1) Coronary artery disease
2) High blood pressure
3) Cardiac arrest
High blood pressure
it's a condition in which the force of the blood against the artery is too high. The normal pre hypertension is 120/80. Hypertension is the define as blood pressure above 140/90 and considered severe if the blood pressure is above 180/120.
Symptoms of high blood pressure
* Severe headache
* Fatigue
* Chest pain
* Difficulty in breathing
* Irregular heartbeat.
Uncontrolled high blood pressure can lead to heart attack, stroke, heart failure etc.
Cardiac arrest
It's the sudden, unexpected loss of heart function, breathing and consciousness. it result from an electric disturbance in the heart.
Causes of Cardiac arrest
The usual causes of sudden cardiac arrest is an abnormal heart rhythm which is called "ARRHYTHMIA" which happen when your heart's electrical system isn't working correctly. The heart electrical system control the rate and the rhythm of your heart beat. if something goes wrong your heart can beat too fast, too slowly or irregularly.
The symptoms
* Fainting
* Chest discomfort
* Shortness of breath
* Weakness
* Dizziness
* Rapid heart beat.
How can we maintain a healthy heart

* Be active
* Stay at a healthy weight
* Quit smoking and stay away from second hand smoke
* Control your cholesterol and blood pressure
* Manage stress
* Stop Alcoholic drinks.
* Medical checkup
