The Indian police has detained Shiite Muslim in Kashmir following their participation on a religious ceremony in the central Srinagar, a Kashmir province under the control of Indian in the early hours of today 17th August.
The Shiite Muslims in the Indian-controlled Kashmir who had attempted
to participate in the celebration marking the Muslim month of Muharam. Were arrested
by the Indian police, where several gun shots and tear gas was fired to disperse
the crowd.
Despite banning of all traditional precessions by India authority, the Muslims still went out in mass, chanting Pro-freedom and religious slogans along the streets of Srinagar city. Security forces had blocked the crowd with barricade and barbed wire.
The month Muharram, is when the death of the prophet Mohammed’s grandson is mourn, which made the month one of the holiest months of Shiite Muslims all over the world.
